Before we began our final oil painting, we had to do practice still lives of apples on small canvas material. One was to be done traditionally with a brush and one with a palette knife in order to practice two very different techniques with the same medium. I was very thankful for the opportunity to practice because, while I have used oils before, I appreciated the chance to develop my style a little more. I think that even in such small and not super precise paintings, my style definitely shows. I like using different colors in unique places and using very stylistic brush strokes. I am excited to continue perfecting my craft with oils because I absolutely love the texture I can achieve with them!
